HONG KONG, July 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Recently, staff from Fortune Fountain Capital Financial Group ("FFC Financial Group") participated in a charity event named "Under One Sky 2018 Lip Painting – Speaking Up for Rare Diseases" organized by In Volunteer group under Invision Charity Foundation, with an aim to call for social attention to rare diseases* by means of creating the largest lip painting in the world, which would be used to apply for Guinness World Record. Around four hundred people took part in the event, including patients with rare diseases and volunteers from six organizations under Hong Kong Alliance for Rare Diseases, namely Hong Kong Neuro-Muscular Disease Association, Hong Kong Neurofibromatosis Association, Hong Kong Rett Syndrome Association, Hong Kong Spinocerebellar Ataxia Association, Hong Kong Association of Squint and Double Vision Sufferers and Hong Kong Mucopolysaccharidoses & Rare Genetic Diseases Mutual Aid Group.

On the day of the event, volunteers of FFC Financial Group gathered in the hall of Methodist College to make a huge painting with lips. In order to complete the work within a limited time frame, they applied thick lipsticks, and even made it out of the boundary of their lips, then kissed on a huge blank canvas over and over again to make hundreds and thousands of lip marks. After almost four hours of hard-work, all participants completed the painting with a huge heart pattern, symbolizing the love of volunteers and their voices to call the attention from the society to rare diseases.
Meanwhile, speakers from Hong Kong Alliance for Rare Diseases and rare disease patients shared their experience onsite, and increase the awareness of rare diseases among the audience.
A volunteer of FFC Financial group said: "Through the event, I have an opportunity to know more about the social status of patients with rare diseases and it inspired me to think more about life. I hope the company and myself can give more help to people in need."
*A rare disease is any disease that affects a small group of the population. It has not received enough social attention and it is less known by the public. Also, there is not enough support from Hong Kong Society on medical resources to rare diseases. The purpose of the event is to attract governments and the society’s attention on the patients with rare diseases, so as to motivate the public to devote more resources to supporting rare diseases.
