There are several things a person can do to stay fit even when they’ve already surpassed the age of fifty:

Swimming can be great for the aged person provided that the water not be too cold.  Avoid executing breast strokes for they can be very bad for the neck.  Make a few laps now and then to keep those muscles fit.

Jogging or gentle running can be very good for the heart and the lungs as well.  Take caution though when taking long runs on hard surfaces for it has been known to damage the knees and hips.

Walking provides perfect exercise to the legs.  Brisk walking can even be recommended to those who have reached the age of fifty and above.

Dancing is another form of exercise that can keep a person beyond fifty at a healthy state.  Dancing is a good form of work out making the heart go faster and exercises the rate of one’s breathing.

These are a few examples of several forms of exercise anyone can opt for to stay fit.  It has been acknowledged that physical activities such as these are the best ways to stay fit and healthy beyond fifty.  This will enable our bodies to counteract the natural decrease of our metabolism.  Experts also say that in order for exercise to benefit the heart and lungs, it is most advisable to exercise at least twenty minutes, three times a week.  There’s no such thing as bad exercise as long as it’s kept simple and convenient to the person doing it while performing it correctly.
