"During the five-day event on October 9-13, 2019, we saw more health enthusiastic response to visit the showcase of Jasmine’s varieties of rice. This illustrates a new success of our campaign, to promote the health benefits of rice," said Lim Swee Keat, Jasmine Food Corporation’s CEO.
One of the success activities were health cooking demonstrations, in which visitors experienced special sessions with two Malaysia’s celebrity chefs, Fami Taufeq and Jaafar Onn. Involving Jasmine’s best specialty basmati rice, the award-winning Jasmine Royal Pusa Gold and PusaCream, the two celebrity chefs impressed with new experiment of healthy recipes, while presenting knowledge for all consumers about cooking tips and innovation of healthy rice dishes. Highlighted healthy recipes by Chef Fami Taufeq was green apple walnut rice and Chef Jaafar Onn was mushroom rice with beans.
"Persuading people to change their lifestyle is a challenge, hence we should apply step-by-step approach to create a real impact for healthier society. Starting from the younger ages, we also provided an interactive ‘Education Zone’ which caught the most attention from hundreds of kids to visit and explore a new fun learning experience," added Lim.
In the ‘Education Zone’, children aged 5-12 had their fun in a playground and learned a playful interaction with education about benefits of rice, rice milling process, and meaningful pictures that captured the backstories of rice.
Educating people of specialty rice benefits to regulate blood sugar, several talk shows about rice consumption and sugar-related food were also presented by Tung Shin Hospital Dietitian and Nutritionist Marissa Parry, by Her World.
"For us living in Malaysia and other Asian countries, rice is a staple food that we can’t live without. So, we’re committed to encourage all Malaysians practicing a healthier lifestyle, while educating them with our extensive range of specialty rice choices for different dietary needs, such as nutri rice, brown rice, and basmati rice. Such varieties contain various vitamins and high in minerals, that are easily-absorbed, gluten-free, and cholesterol-free," said Lim.
Following this year’s success, Jasmine Food Corporation will work closely and collaborate with more health partners, including Tung Shin Hospital and Pusat Darah Negara (PDN). Furthermore, Jasmine Rice aims to strengthen healthy communities in Malaysia by exploring more health perspective from Malaysian market, which will be projected in the next edition of ‘HealthyRiceStyle’, in October 2020. http://www.jasmine.com.my/
